When you decide on a Parkridge Goldendoodle, you’re choosing an enriched, wholesome experience. We take great care in breeding and raising puppies who are well-suited to their forever families, but that doesn’t mean you don’t have questions.
Here are some of the ones we’re most often asked.
How do I reserve a Parkridge puppy?
In order to make sure we find the right puppy for your family circumstances, energy level, and living arrangements, we take a little extra time to get to know you. The first step is to fill out our application fully and completely. We respond to applications in 3-5 business days. We’ll then schedule a time to connect over the phone.
How will you know which puppy is best for my family?
We get to know each and every puppy intimately. Their unique personalities, preferences, and temperament help guide us toward finding the right family for them. Selections are made in order of reservations but rest assured that we’ll take into consideration the needs and preferences of your own family before making a puppy recommendation. You’ll get to meet all the puppies, including yours, at the seven-week Open House.
Which health clearances should we be looking for when we choose a breeder?
The health of the parent dogs are just as important as the health of your future puppy. When choosing a breeder, please ensure that all their dogs have health clearances. Every single Parkridge Goldendoodle parent has current and traceable health clearances from the Orthopaedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) for hips, elbows, patellas, heart, and thyroid as well as a passing eye exam from the Canine Eye Registration Foundation (CERF) and diseases such as Von Willebrand’s disease (vWD) and Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA). Our puppies also go for a full veterinary health examination before they’re ready to head home to you.
Can I meet you before placing a deposit?
Yes. After you complete your application and phone interview, we can arrange for you to visit one of our Open Houses.
What is the cost?
We always want to ensure our puppies are a perfect fit for your family. We honestly care more about that than we care about making a sale. For all the details on costs, reservations, and how to choose a Parkridge Goldendoodle, please Complete An Application. We’ll schedule a phone call so you can ask any questions and you’ll also receive a follow up puppy package with more information.
Bringing Your Puppy Home
When can I take my puppy home?
Your puppy will be ready to come home when s/he is eight weeks old, one week after the Open House.
We have young children and/or pets. Will our puppy be properly socialized?
Our puppies are part of the family experience as soon as they’re born. We raise them one litter at a time and in the centre of our homes. We also work directly with a professional trainer to enrich each puppy’s socialization skills and create an easy and seamless transition into your home.
Where are you located?
We’re located in British Columbia, Canada. We meet our families on Puppy Pick Up/Delivery Day in Tsawwassen, near Vancouver. If you’re unable to pick up your puppy in person, we can fly him/her to anywhere within Canada and the continental United States. Puppies are flown in temperature controlled cabins with a reliable aircraft carrier. Additional fees for flights will apply.
How do I prepare for my puppy’s arrival?
We understand the frustration of trying to find the right products in a sea of items at the big box stores. That’s why we include a carefully-curated package of locally-made, top-quality puppy essentials. That way, all you need to do is spend time connecting as a family. It’s just part of The Parkridge Difference.
About Goldendoodles & Our Breeding Practices
What’s so great about Goldendoodles anyway?
A Goldendoodle is an original cross between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle. They’re friendly, smart family dogs, and they’re less-allergenic than other breeds that shed heavily. Goldendoodles love to play outdoors just as much as they enjoy cuddling with their family. Plus, they’re super cute.
What types of Goldendoodles do you breed?
Parkridge Goldendoodles breeds a variety of Goldendoodle generations and colours. We specialize in English or Teddy Bear Goldendoodles. They have a blockier snout and more of the Teddy Bear look thanks to their English Golden Retriever lineage (as opposed to American Golden Retriever).
Are Goldendoodles hypoallergenic?
We do not guarantee our dogs as hypoallergenic but individuals with allergies have adopted our Goldendoodles without any problems. Since pet allergies are typically caused by dander and shedding, a Goldendoodle with a curlier coat is a better, less-allergenic option. We are able to tell coat type from birth. If you have a family with allergies, we can easily match you with the right puppy.
What age do you start breeding your dogs?
We usually start breeding our dogs around two years of age. By this age, our dogs will have gone through health clearances, obedience training, and will be physically ready for a litter.
How many litters do each of your dogs have?
Our dogs have only 3 litters before they retire from our breeding program and enjoy life as a full-time pet with their Guardian Families.
What is the difference between Parkridge and another breeder?
The truth is, there are many differences and levels of care across the breeding industry. At its most basic, some breeders choose to have more than one litter at a time which we feel leads to less care and attention for the puppies and breeding moms. We spend a lot of time and energy raising our dogs and puppies to be well socialized, healthy, and happy. You can tell when you meet them.
